Reading a Histogram

A histogram shows pixel distribution from shadows (left) to highlights (right). A "good" exposure typically has data across the range without hard clipping at either edge. Left-leaning histograms indicate darker images; right-leaning means brighter. The goal is context-appropriate, not a specific shape.
